Chicago Community Area #65 - West Lawn

Continuing east on 63rd, I entered the West Lawn neighborhood and, at the corner of Pulaski, came across the most memorable icon of the area: an 18 foot high "Cigar Store Indian" on tope of the building on the northwest corner. The building formerly housed the Capitol Cigar Store, but it is now home to K&S Pharmacy and the statue is used as an advertisement for the Midwest Eye Clinic, also in the corner building. The Native American is sporting a large pair of eyeglasses and has a sign around his neck that reads "Eye Can See Now" and his eyes are bright white. Although I haven't seen it, the Cigar Store Indian makes a cameo appearance in the movie "Wayne's World"

The surrounding area is primarily residential and is populated by a mix of people of Mexican, Polish and Arab descents.
